Duration
As a rule, doctoral studies in the natural sciences take three to four years. This period is devoted to research on a specific topic and concludes with a dissertation (written doctoral thesis) and oral defense (presentation and discussion).
If the doctoral dissertation is not submitted within the admission period of four years and the oral defense is not held within the admission period of four years (see Section 4 subsection 5 of the Doctoral Degree Regulations MIN Faculty (2010) and Section 5 subsection 5 of the Doctoral Degree Regulations MIN Faculty (2018)), it is possible to extend the admission period by submitting an application for extension to the subject doctoral committee using this form via the responsible Academic Office or Doctoral Office Physics.
